Topping Out Ceremony at the Landsby

28th February 2019
All events

To mark the completion of construction of the Landsby’s main building, Elysian held a traditional ‘topping-out’ ceremony. This was attended by the construction team, Bob Blackman MP, Councillor Keith Ferry from Harrow Council and children from the local Whitchurch Primary School who gave a wonderful talk on the history of topping out ceremonies.
This was followed by the tradition of placing an evergreen branch at the top of the building to symbolise growth and to appease the tree dwelling spirits of their ancestors that had been displaced.
